Our “growing” crisis = Obesity.
Yes, a play on words. One must have a sense of humor in tough times.
This video story I saw today is pretty cool. Inspiring. Never thought about “it”–CrossFit in schools but I like it.
As I watched it, I saw something that I’ve been talking–or preaching–about for some time:
Now, before we go all bonkers on me, Pro or Con, let’s be clear I am no CrossFit fanatic, junky, or even convert.
I’ve done it ONE and a half times and been to one competition. So, far be me from an expert. But I get the energy and what I like about this is it’s in line with something I’ve been talking about for years, which is the solution to our increasing “fatness” is not getting “less fat” but get more—>> anything.
The solution to weight loss, and gain, is in the aiming towards a performance goal or some goal that is recognized, real and rewarding. The aiming at increased performance self resolves the weight and lack of fitness.
What “fitness” has been missing for years is the focus of a goal, of a direction. It’s just been largely “stuff” to do, not result driven, and not in service of a performance.
Crossfit can be that performance focus that changes the game for many. It’s not the only way, it’s just a way. And I say this from an unbiased perspective, that has been more resistant to Crossfit than embracing.
Yep, Crossfit looks like it could be a powerful tool in our arsenal for combating obesity–and a wonderfully crude tool at that.
As you were… Only Stronger,

Shawn
