The Ripple Effect:
Small Things that Make a Big Impact in Your Life

Mon, Jul 6, 2009

drop_waterDoes it seem like you get busier and busier every day?

Is something else to do the very last thing you need—even if that “something else” is a way to boost your productivity?

You’re not alone. I’ve been feeling the load too and that’s why I’m excited to share this week’s SSM wisdom: How to get more done, faster with less time and energy than ever.

I stumbled on this idea yesterday in a conversation with the renowned author and Personal Freedom Guru, Jay Fiset of Calgary, Canada. For over 20 years Jay has been facilitating large group personal transformations for tens of thousands of people—so when Jay talks about being your best, I listen.

Our discussion was about creating leverage by focusing less on wholesale change than on small things that produce big impact.

Small actions that allow you to get more results with less time and energy have, what I call, “The Ripple Effect”

The Ripple Effect originates in the physics of motion where the simple act of a pebble dropped into a pool of water results in ever expanding ripples that travel out from that center.

Enjoy Massive Success

In your life The Ripple Effect is about getting back to center, to the core. Tapping into the power of leverage with the small things that lead to massive success.

It’s seemingly small things that can be done in short order that pay big dividends—and bigger returns over time.

I’m partial to Ripple Effect actions that take about 5 minutes or less, for example:

      •       Starting the day with 5 (okay maybe 10) minutes of meditation.

      •       The Morning Strength Ritual (chapter 7, Strength for Life) for
developing positive focus and gratitude each day.

      •       Closing each day with a short email or note to your partner or
spouse with three things they did today that you most appreciate.

These examples might help you find areas in your life where you’re benefiting from The Ripple Effect now and even more opportunities to tap into the leverage. They may be in your health and fitness, business, relationships, rejuvenation—any and every area of your life.

Yesterday Jay described a daily practice for setting himself in the powerful state of being an unstoppable force and source of success. You can learn to create this state of yourself by listening to the audio clip below.

3 Part Audio of Live Call with Shawn & Jay Fiset

PART 1: The Transformative Power of Bookends [3:45]
PART 2: A Funny Things Happened on the Way... [2:46]
PART 3: You, Powerful, Strong, & Unstoppable [2:34]

As you’ll discover in the audio clip, Jay’s practice leverages Full Strength not only as a vital, essential source of premium-quality nutrition, but as a daily ritual that instantly elevates you to a fully resourced state—a position of strength, energy and confidence.

Full Strength is a near perfect example of a Ripple Effect action, in that it takes less than five minutes and fuels you for hours of energy and freedom. Its Ripple Effect impact is also documented in the research study which showed that the simple act of adding Full Strength to your day radically improved body composition—adding muscle, shedding fat, lowering cholesterol and boosting energy.

Now that’s a Ripple Effect in nutrition that continues to grow every day.

Yet, as compelling as the science of Full Strength is, I contend that the real leverage you’ll find—and many already do daily—is in the fully resourced state that Full Strength can deliver you to as reliably as anything you can do in your life.

And it’s from the place of power, confidence and clarity—from your Strength— that you find resistance begins to wilt and life seems to effortlessly bend in your favor.

The key to tapping this full Ripple Effect potential of Full Strength is in how you enjoy it—drinking one while on the run or indulging in a version of the Shake Break that I’ve long recommended.

In the live recordings above Jay explains how his daily Ripple Effect ritual, which is like the Shake Break, evolved from an NLP technique called “Book-Ending.” In little more than one minute, Jay super-charges his daily Full Strength ritual, transforming it from super-nourishment for body and mind to a complete body, mind, and spirit reset that propels him into a position of Strength all day long.

Where Are the Ripples in Your Life?

As you explore the concept in respect to your life, I’d most appreciate hearing where you’re currently benefiting from the power of The Ripple Effect now.

Please do feel invited to share.

Until Next Week,
Stay Strong,

"Shawn" :-)

Thanks for this. It really is helpful to have reminders to focus on the positive and to be grateful. It’s been a tough week and I was feeling down about things, thanks for helping me to refocus.

Everything counts, nothing is neutral. Full Strength is a positive step in the right direction every day. I rarely miss a day without my performance shake, but when I do, I notice the difference in the way I feel. My body needs and craves the nutrition I get from Full Strength. Similarly, those who eat McDonalds need and crave that fast food fix. You are in fact, what you eat. You’re either getting leaner and fitter or fatter and less healthy…Do you want more health or less, more vitality or less, more energy or less? You’re either moving toward your goals or away from them. Nothing is neutral, everything counts.
