This Monday I’m getting back to the ease of the video to explore the deception of sacrifice and Living the Un-Reasonable Life.
Not sure what the Reasonable life is? It’s the sort of sleep-walking through life–”living in The Gap,” tolerating less from life than we can have and deserve. A way of life more common than either of us care to consider. It’s following the path as we’re supposed to, settling, adapting, getting by.
Wonder if you’re living a reasonable life? Watch this episode. It’s a valuable 4 minutes that I’m sure you’ll enjoy.
Watch for the Key Moment…
Watch and listen for the punch line, “The shocking TRUTH is most people take better care of their ____________ than they do of themselves!!!
NOTE: The quote from the video on Sacrifice comes from one of my favorite authors/thinkers many books, Nathaniel Branden’s Honoring The Self. and one that I’m re-devouring at the moment. This, along with most all his works, come with my highest recommendation.
.
Until Next Week…
Stay Strong,

Shawn

Although I haven’t gotten the chance to read, “Strength for Life” – it’s on my list… after watching this video – I’m moving it to the top of the list and going right out to buy it, read it & implement it. Very powerful!

Hey Shawn, thanks for the great clip, very inspiring. I cannot agree with you more. Being average, or “normal” is just like giving up on yourself. We have this amazing gift of being alive, and deciding not to be the best we can be, is almost an act of disrespect for life itself.
In addition to that, people seem to think that taking care of oneself is a type of ego-trip, whereas I believe that one cannot ever take care and help anyone else unless they themselves are first healthy in body and mind.
A healthy, happy person radiates this towards everyone he meets. His happiness becomes addicting for others and he changes the world by changing himself.
Take Yoga as an example of an “unreasonable” system, and it is indeed, in its rawest, classical form very different and completely unnatural to what most of us have become used to in the west. The system of Yoga begins with the human being, with the body and the mind, and the higher stages are activated only through working on oneself. Certainly no accomplished Yogi would ever agree to be “normal” or “reasonable”.
The West is known for being “reasonable” or “logical”. There have been modern Chinese philosophers who had said that the West sees the changing reality and instead of adapting himself, tries to change it, fight with reality. I agree with this. We have indeed been taught to change everything but ourselves when something isn’t working.
Which is in fact anything but reasonable or logical.
Thanks again!
