Why Whole Foods Are Not So “Whole” Anymore

According to recent studies our fruits and vegetables are losing nutrient value at an alarming rate. One study (of many) from the University of Texas showed noticeable declines in 13 essential nutrients including protein, calcium, phosphorus, iron, riboflavin and vitamin C over the last 50 years. The declines ranged from 6% to 38%. And this drop goes for both the conventionally and organically grown. What’s a person to do?

And when your body is deprived of essential nutrients you will be compelled to eat more. For most that eating more arises as craving for things that are less than healthy as I explained in Chapter 11 of Strength for Life, in “Cravings to Consumption to Freedom.”
