People get real geared up when I say the worst time to start a fitness program is tomorrow. The only day worse than that is today.
Sure, everybody else is saying “Get up off the couch and get moving today.”
Problem is that Americans are over-stressed, over-served, under-nourished, and under-slept. We’re not getting enough sleep and rest. And for many, our nutrition is out-of-whack. Our bodies and minds are in a state of stress.
And, while the tendency is to start training hard on January 1st or 2nd to kick-off the New Year, it’s important to note that training and conditioning your body adds stress…a positive stress in some way, but it is still stress to the body.
I’ve talked to thousands of people who’ve eagerly engaged in a new training program, they go in full-on, ready to hit it, then all of the sudden, they’re fatigued, they’re exhausted.
They think, “The program worked for everyone else, why not me?”

Over the last 10 years we’ve learned much from Transformation programs, including: When your body is under stress, you can’t add stress to the stress.
Going from stress to stress causes your body to shutdown. It’s called a catabolic state: your body is breaking down…not building up.
Don’t Do What Everyone Else is Going To Do…
This year avoid the New Year’s rush to the Gym. Let others compete for the cardio equipment, machines and dumbbells for the first two weeks while you do something a little bit different.
Let me explain: Would you climb Mt. Everest without an acclimation period? Of course not.
The same way, you shouldn’t start a training program without a period of time to Renew, Reset and Reboot your body preparing for a rigorous and challenging Transformation.

This is really good advise all to often people get stuck straight into the gym come January the 1st, by January the 5th they’ve packed t all in.

I have decided to do several “life changes” as opposed to resolutions. Not only will I step up my physical training, I am going to abolish as many lifelong negative behaviors as possible. Why not? I am putting in the effort on one front. Change is difficult. I might as well get all the stress over with at once.

Happy New Year! I think you gave some great advice about waiting two weeks to “attack” exercising. I’m beginning with meditation, walks on the beach (I can in LA), alot of movement on beach and dancing and cutting back on portions and watching what I consume even though my diet is good with protein, veggie and fruits. I have a sensitivity to wheat and simple sugar! (Trust me on this one)
I have a question regarding “Full Strength” I’m off simple sugar, wheat, dairy and caffeine. Are any of these ingredients in Full Strength?
